The world had gone into lockdown. COVID-19 had exploded into a full-blown pandemic.

Schools and businesses were shuttered. Streets and cities across the United States were

eerily quiet. It was the spring of 2020, but at least one business in Ogden, Utah remained open.

Dave Moore's sewing machine repair shop. Dave and his brother, who co-owned the business,

were trying to keep up with a sudden surge in demand for their services.

We're extremely busy when COVID broke out because everyone's staying home making masks.

Dave's shop is still located right where it had been in October of 1985,

on the night when Sherry Warren had disappeared.

The bar on the other side of the parking lot, where David Gone for a drink with his friend

Carrie Hartman that night, was still there too, but it had changed names and owners several times

over the decades. There's a small office tucked in the back of Dave's shop.

Dave was working in the office one day that spring of 2020 when he heard someone come through the

door onto the sales floor. My brother was down on the floor and Carrie came in and my brother

was not real fond of Carrie. He said, let me see if he'll see you. So he came up and I just walked

down real briefly, said, hi, you know what he's doing. Basically, he gave me the story.

There's living in a halfway house and somebody donated a bed in a small TV to him and that was

basically the conversation. A modest new beginning for Carrie Hartman.

Carrie just returned to Ogden after spending 32 years in prison.
