We're going to talk about the order between the seven sacraments, but first I just want to talk a little bit about the whole

0:05.0

problem or mystery, as it were, of juridical delegation.

0:10.0

So, juridical delegation is not simply the, is something, you know, I might say, decides the simple celebration of the sacraments.

0:19.0

If by simple celebration of sacraments, you mean like the actual

0:21.8

conducting of the ritual with form and matter, words, and signs. But it enters into the validity of the

1:32.4

That cannot be delegated.

1:33.9

There's some debate about whether there have been in the Middle Ages priests

1:37.5

who ordained other priests through delegation of bishops,

1:40.2

but let's just consider that a very sketchy,

1:48.2

sort of distant question.

1:54.6

The norm, uh, in all cases that are absolutely typical in the church and which are presumed for validity necessary are that is that the bishop ordains a priest. And that cannot really be

2:00.0

delegated.
