Now normally, when we talk about power on this program, we're doing so in a structural or political capacity.

What powers were reserved to the states? What does executive power mean? Which party is apt to come into power and so forth?

But I had an interesting opportunity to meet with Dr. Jeffrey Pfeffer, who's arguably one of the top analysts and thinkers in the world about

the nature of power and how to accumulate it.

How people in positions of leadership, how political and corporate leaders are able

to project and maintain power.

And also, what habits do us normal people restrain ourselves with that keeps us from obtaining it?

Not because I want to unleash a wave of sociopaths on the world to dominate it.

Quite the opposite.

I look around me, and I see a lot of people

in positions of power with fairly evident,

narcissistic, and sociopathic tendencies and I'm not always convinced

that the structures and norms they perpetuate are actually being followed by them.

Sometimes I almost feel like they're tricking us

and doing what they want.
