A great Zane Grey short story from his book "The Red-Headed Outfield". Zane Grey was a very popular western and sports writer in the arly 20th century. His portrayal of minor league baseball, in the days when town played against town, reminds us of the days when baseball was played for the love of the game- long before money became the biggest motivator.
