The rain kept thundering down that July 22nd, 1988 night.

Outside, it was pitch black.

to drive back to West Canyon, Colorado, and his

Volkswagen. Dr. Perry Nelson was driving to Denver, and his buddy Gary Star Adams was sitting

in the passenger seat. Dr. Nelson knew he wouldn't be able to make it to Denver in this weather.

The best option would be for them to stop alongside

the road to get some shut-eye before heading back home in the morning. He didn't realize that

stopping alongside the road was the worst decision he ever made. Yet Gary, who was sitting in the

passenger seat, beside Perry, was glad that everything was going as

planned. He needed to get rid of Perry. You see, Gary, he was sleeping with Perry's wife, Sharon

Nelson, and if he killed Perry, he would get to have Sharon for life, so he thought, and he would

also get to cash in on some of her insurance money from her

husband's death. When Perry parked beside the road, Gary got out of the car. He told Perry he wanted

to take a leak. But that really wasn't the reason why he wanted to get out of the car. He walked

to kill Perry, which was only minutes away. Meanwhile, in his VW, Perry was getting the car ready
