Summary

Jefferson Morley is a journalist and editor who has worked in Washington journalism for over thirty years, fifteen of which were spent as an editor and reporter at the Washington Post. The author of Our Man in Mexico, a biography of the CIA's Mexico City station chief Winston Scott, Morley has written about intelligence, military, and political subjects for Salon, the Atlantic, and The Intercept, among other publications. He is also the editor of JFKfacts.org.

Jeff joins the show to talk about the history of the CIA and also his new book, The Ghost: The Secret Life of CIA Spymaster James Jesus Angleton.

So he writes a lot about the history of the CIA and these very interesting characters

that most of us don't know too much about. And I will admit, before I ran into his book,

I really didn't know who James Jesus Angleton was.

I knew the name.

It sounded familiar.

I'm sure I saw it written somewhere and it didn't seem completely unfamiliar.

But I didn't realize how influential this person was in foreign policy and coups and so much that was going on in the world.

And so many of the historical events that happened while he was working for the CIA and basically second in charge of the CIA behind Alan Dulles.

So it was a really interesting conversation.

Jeff and I had a good conversation about his books, about some current events, but mostly
