Well, he's back.

But if he ever really went away.

And so, America's presidential primaries, where, state by state, members of the major parties

vote for who they want to be their nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

And a few days ago, at one of the first events of the Republican campaigning calendar,

Donald Trump and the people trying to beat him got to show this stuff.

Joan Grave, a senior political reporter with the Guardian, was there.

I spent the weekend at the Faith and Freedom Coalition's road to majority conference.

The Faith and Freedom Coalition is a right-wing evangelical group and it hosts this annual conference.

Glad to see you on your feet. The higher your hair, the closer you are to God.

Are you guys excited about the 2023 road to majority conference or why?

You did see people wearing hats and t-shirts for their preferred candidates

and, you know, for their preferred causes.

And, you know, a lot of American flag t-shirts and hats.

And so, it really did have the air of, you know, almost of a sporting event
