One day after Donald Trump incited a fascist-led mob to seize control of the U.S. Capitol and

disperse the Congress at the moment it was voting to certify the election of Joe Biden, the ruling

class in America has turned decisively against him. Welcome to the January 7th edition of The Real

Wow, what a day.

Yesterday, January 6th.

January 6th, the first time, I guess, since the war of 1812, where the U.S. Capitol was breached, in a way, Nicole, it didn't seem to be

even breached. I mean, you had Capitol police officers actually opening the gates such that

large numbers of fascist led, and we're not using fascist here as a rhetorical flourish,

these were fascist leaders, let them into the Capitol grounds.

And then many of them came up, as many of them also came through broken windows.

They had metal rods.

They were armed. Then when they got

inside, they chased some police officers, some capital police officers. I saw them chasing a black

capital police officer. But with other white police officers in the Capitol grounds, they were

actually taking selfies with them. Some of them who had burst into,

you know, the primary offices of the U.S. Congress, including top congressional leaders,

when they were met by the police, the police didn't have riot gear on. They had casual

conversations with them. Ultimately, though, when they started this storm into the Senate chamber and the members

of the Congress had to take cover, they had to shelter in place, they had to lock down.
