If you're a long-time listener of this show, you may have listened to my interview with Joe Pistone, who was the real Donnie Brascoe.

Donnie Brascoe from the movie, you know, Johnny Depp? Well, I had Joe Pistone on pretend,

and I failed to ask him one question. Where did he get the name Donnie Brasco?

It just sounds like a cool name. Maybe he made it up or something, but it turns out that my friend,

Jerry Williams with the FBI Case Fial Review podcast, actually knows the truth. And it turns out

that this is the worst kept secret in the FBI, because the origins of the name Donnie Brasco is actually a lot more interesting than we realized.

Donnie Brasco is actually Joe Pistone's nephew. Yes, his real name, his nephew's name is really Donnie Brasco.

And Donnie Brasco, the real Donnie Brasco, grew up to be an FBI agent, an undercover FBI agent, just like his uncle, Joe Pistone.

Anyway, this, when Jerry told me about this, I was floored because I actually talked to the guy,

and he was tight-lipped about the whole thing.

And now, for the first time ever, this story about the real Donny Brasco and Joe Pistone is public,

and Jerry Williams had both of them on her show.
