Hey, good morning. I'm Patricia Murphy. It's Thursday. This is Seattle now. Seattle is in dire need of more

housing density. The city also wants to be climate conscious in a warming world. Right now, those two goals are at odds with one another in some instances, and it's slowing the development of necessary middle housing.

We'll talk more about that in a minute with Seattle Times reporter Greg Kim,

but first, let's get you caught up.

Here's a sign of the Times for the Seattle area.

The average income in King County grew to nearly $129,000 in

2024. That's 55 grand higher than the national average. The numbers come from the U.S. Bureau

of Economic Analysis. Axios reports those higher incomes are tamped down in King County

by steep housing costs and elevated

inflation. Believe it or not, we're 100 days away from the Men's World Cup. Seattle's hosting six

matches at Lumen Field in June and July. Sound Transit says the light rail trains will run every

eight minutes on game days. And today, the city council is getting briefed on Seattle Center's plan as the flagship location for fans to celebrate and watch for free.

Emerald City Comic-Con opens today at the Seattle Convention Center. Some of the big-name guests this year include

William Shatner, Courtney Eaton from the series Yellow Jackets, and Washington's very own Kyle

McLaughlin. The Seattle Times reports more than 90,000 people attended last year's

convention, and organizers are hoping to break 100,000 this year. Comic-Con runs through
