He raises the weapon, then signals to a colleague who's standing by with a sledgehammer.

The other officer swings a hammer, smashing through the wood and opening the hole back up.

Before anyone on the other side can respond, the officer fires his weapon and sends a tear gas canister into the bank vault.

Then his colleague clamps a panel against the hole to stop the noxious fumes from escaping.
