Summary

In her 20’s Jamie met a man, who happened to be a father of 3 and found herself in the new role of a step parent. Entering into parenthood part way, with a role that didn’t seem to have a lot of information and support, Jamie found herself frustrated and alone in the experience and decided to do something about it. Now, Jamie has a world-wide community of step-parents accessing support and guidance through the world of what is often painted as the “villain” and with some guiding words for us co-parenting folks, too.

0:41.4	co-parent with my ex and it is one of those things that we're all just trying to be respectful and good and nice and it can be really weird and
0:53.2	isolating to not really know where everybody stands and because it's so outside of that cookie cutter
0:57.0	picture perfect family that maybe we all grew up thinking
1:01.6	would always be our reality and for many of us it's not and
1:05.6	that's where a step-parent comes in so I'm very excited to welcome on Jamie
1:10.0	Jamie is somebody who has been talking about the step-parent experience for a long time and we have
1:18.8	had conversation before I met her at a mom event, I want to say going back five years ago or so, and she's somebody that I just
1:30.6	think is having the conversations that not a lot of people are
1:33.8	openly having she's a step-mom herself and we're going to welcome her to the
1:37.2	show and have all of the have all of the questions have all of the
1:40.6	conversation and hopefully all come away learning some things
1:44.5	whether you are a step parent, partner to a step parent, know a step parent,
1:49.8	interacting with the world, then I mean, I think we all know a step-parent in our lives, and
1:57.5	maybe it's a great time to just sit and talk with one and learn a little bit more about
2:02.3	their experience away from the
2:05.9	villain of the stepmom that we all kind of grew up seeing in the Disney movies.
