As a believer in Jesus, the Bible says you are no longer who you were,

so your life should reflect this change.

Today's lesson from the Book of Colossians helps you understand. your life again, the Bible says, that our old life, that is what we were before we were saved, was replaced.

It wasn't improved on, it wasn't patched up, it wasn't renewed, it was replaced. That old sinful nature that was once yours dictated dominated rule governed your life

The Bible says was crucified with Christ

Buried with him and then we rose to walk in newness of life, the Bible

says, because the old you has been replaced by the new you and you're a new person in Christ, therefore there is the right

and the anticipation and the expectation for our lifestyle to be different.

You'll recall that Paul couched these terms about what we were versus what we are in the

symbolism of clothing.

And I want you to go back, if you will, in chapter 3 to verse 5. And having reminded us that we were crucified with them, buried with them, risen with

him, seated with him, hidden with him coming back again with him, he says in verse

five therefore he says consider the members of your body

dead that is put to death the following attitudes are actions immorality impurity

passion evil desire greed which amounts to adultery.

He says all these things are the cause, the wrath of God to come.

Then he says in verse 7, and in them you once walk, not now, but it's what you used to do. This is your previous life,

this is the kind of life you used to live. He says in verse 8, but now you also put them aside,

that is strip yourself of all of these things such as anger,

wrath, malice, slander, abusive speech from your mouth.

Don't lie to one another.
