You are known Sorab Amare for your way with radical ideas and also for your journey to the age of 37.

Born a modern Muslim in Tehran.

You've been moving west since your teens through many varieties of politics and also journalism.

Mostly on the right, on the opinion pages of Rupert Murdoch's Wall Street Journal and the New York Post.

But then you've made a very public turn to an articulate Catholicism.

And your politics, you call it conservative, has turned militantly anti-establishment.

You could sound like a shape shifter, Sorab, or maybe a model of improvisation and growth.

How do you describe yourself?

I would describe myself increasingly not as a conservative.

If conservative means preserving the Republican Party's consensus that's governed the party, let's say, since the 1980s.

In that sense, I'm not a conservative. I would describe myself as a populist and a political Catholic.

You or somebody else described you as a right to life new dealer.
