Hello, everyone, welcome to Slash Film Weekly. It is Thursday, August 7th, 2025, and on today's

0:05.2

episode of the show, we're going to be talking about the latest film and TV news. We're going to dig into new releases, The Naked Gun, and together, we'll play interviews with the folks behind those movies, and I'll talk about why this podcast is coming out one day later than usual. My name is Ben Pearson. I'm an editor at slash film.com,

0:21.6

and it's just me to kick things off here. You might be able to tell from my voice that I sound

0:27.9

a little bit different. That is probably because I have been once again stricken by the novel

0:33.4

coronavirus. I have COVID, which I got on a trip to Thailand that I took to celebrate the

0:40.8

digital release of Jurassic World Rebirth. So I'll talk more about that as the episode goes on.

0:47.9

I've got some interviews that I want to play with some of the folks behind that film.

0:51.0

But I wanted to say that up top. I wanted to apologize to everybody at the top

0:55.0

of the show for this episode being one day late. I know I'm trying to stick to a Wednesday

1:00.7

schedule for the most part. But yeah, I was gone for over a week and the timing got a little

We have Slash Film Staff Writer, Bill Brea. Hey there. Hey there. Bill, I'm glad to have you on the show. So I want to just blast through a bunch of news items. We have a lot going on on today's podcast episode. So I'm just kind of kind of rapid fire run through some of the biggest news stories of the past week-ish.

set to focus on the character Spider-Punk, who is played by

1:47.9

Daniel Kaluya in Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse back in 2023.

1:52.9

Kaluya is developing and co-writing the movie with someone named A. John Singh, whose work

1:59.2

I'm not familiar with.

2:00.4

And we don't really have

2:01.4

any plot details, but we know that this is going to be basically a movie about the Spider-Punk

2:06.2

character. The guy, his character's name is Hobie Brown. He plays a guitar. He has a very distinctive

2:11.8
