Auburn, Maine, and to the doorstep of the man now charged with the murder of Sophie Sergei.

After years of delays due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the trial of Stephen H. Downs began in January a

signaling the news he'd been waiting to hear for two months. In reality, the

wait had been much longer, 25 years of waiting for something to happen in the longstanding

cold case murder of Sophie Sergi.
