Harold Greenwood, her husband of more than 20 years, was arrested on June 17, 1920,

accused of fatally poisoning her.

And I'm Holly Fry. Let's get to know the Greenwoods first. Harold Greenwood was born on New Year's Day of 1874 to William Greenwood, a landed gentleman and his wife Isabella, at Inglton in Yorkshire, England.

Mabel Bowwater was born on September 3, 1871, to William and Eliza Bowwater of the prosperous

Bowwater Multinational Paper Milling Company. In June of 1896, Harold and Mabel married, and they went on

to have four children. Edith Irene Isabel,, Harold and Mabel married, and they went on to have four children.

Edith Irene Isabel, Mabel Eileen, Norman Ivor, Van Sittart Bowater, and John Kenneth.

At the time of our story, Edith, known as Irene, was the only child living at home.
