Summary

In honor of Juneteenth, our newest federal holiday, this episode takes a look at the history of the day and what it symbolizes. While it was celebrated locally in Texas and other states for years, it was only officially made a federal holiday in June 2021. It is seen as a second Independence Day of sorts for many Black Americans who didn't actually get their freedom with the founding of the country. Today is the first edition of our new ongoing series, The Mo You Know, where we break down one topic in the headlines.
