You know, there's something funny about this journey.

I've revisited all the feelings high and low.

together, but there's a part of me that still, in spite of everything that's happened,

yearns for another way to see him, a part that's desperately longing for the healing that we all

fantasize about.

I want some narrow window to squint through like a tiny telescope of the soul that will shoot me out into the galaxy of love and admiration for this man.

My eccentric, troubled, abusive, abused, emotionally unavailable, overwhelmed with emotion, sick,

and dying father.

I'm 40 now, the father of two absolutely magical young boys, boys who need every ounce of my love, courage, and wisdom to make their own

tumbling journey into the wider world someday.

Boys that I'd take a bullet for.

Who deserve everything from me.

Who owe me nothing?
