I'm David Rothkoff, your host, and this week we're going to do it slightly

differently. We're going to start off talking to our friend David Sanger of the New York Times,

a little bit about where we are in the world today, and then we'll go and pick up a conversation

with our friend Rosa Brooks. But David, let me ask you a question based on all the upheaval of the current week.

I've got a couple questions for you, but I'm going to start with this one.

The administration, as everybody now knows, did a complete about face on tariffs.

Today, Wednesday, the day we're recording this, for whatever the reasons are.

I mean, it's certainly erratic policy and sent the markets down for a few days,

and then finally they rethought it now have punted out 90 days on a much lower

level of tariffs with one exception. And the exception is China, where he's that he kicked it up,

they kicked it up, he kicked it up, they kicked it up. Now he's kicked it up again to 125%. It seems to me that what he's trying to do is, you know, retain face for having done

the about face on everything else by maintaining this with China. And I think that Chinese have
