While it's often misunderstood by the general public,

Elaine O'Hara was born on March 17, 1976 and Dublin, Ireland to parents Frank and Eileen.

And it was there she had a difficult childhood.

She was often bullied while studying at St Joseph of Clooney Secondary School on account of her dyslexia,

and at least partially because of that, she ended up falling into a pit of depression and abuse of her own body at a young age.

Things were so bad that by the time her mid-teens came around, Elaine had cut a critical section

of her arm with a very sharp object while locked inside her family bathroom.

Thankfully though, on that occasion, her mother was able to get to her before she blood out

and as a result she'd be admitted to a psychiatric facility where she was finally given the help she needed.

It was there that, upon being first treated by Professor Anthony Claire and receiving a borderline

personality disorder diagnosis in August of 1992.

Elaine began to fully understand and accept the reasons for her mental health problems,
