In 2024, the 2024 common statement on the filial quay presents us with an opportunity to move toward healing age-old divisions within Christ's church, in light of our common affirmation that the filial quay is no longer church dividing. If there is no discussion, we will proceed to vote.

The adoption of the resolution is approved.

Let us now be shaped in faith by praying the creed together without the filial quay.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father,

who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

That's the presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Elizabeth Eaton,

and the delegates to last week's churchwide assembly of the ELCA.

They are reciting the Nicene Creed without the Philly Oakway.

It's the latest in a long line of theological compromises that the ELCA has been willing to make

with virtually every other church body in order to have some kind of legitimacy in order to have some kind of ecumenical partnership.
