This is Hell. Colonial empires stole land from indigenous people worldwide for centuries, over half a millennia, and still occupy much of the land formerly occupied by the indigenous.

There are many who are now arguing maybe it's finally time we do something about this historic

injustice.

It's even likely that you may have at least heard about the

land back movement either through your own research some media outlet other than ours or maybe from the many guests who have

appeared on our show and mentioned it here on the show over the years. But if you

haven't heard or aren't certain what it is, the Landback Movement demands

indigenous communities have decision-making power over land. Their goal is not

to force those who currently live on the land to leave.

They believe that indigenous governance is possible, sustainable,

and best for all public lands.

And on our show, Landback came up most recently last month in early May

when we spoke with Ashley Dawson, co-editor of decolonized conservation.

Ashley summed it up as, it's a simple demand.

Give the stolen land back.
