The Light of Being shines through our humanness. In this podcast, Eckhart talks about

bringing together the human and the being aspects of ourselves. He says, we would be consigned to a miserable fate of all we were was human.

Trapped by a limited identity, there would be no possibility of self-transcendants.

Eckhart points out even big egos have little selves and their achievements even if

considerable often make people so unhappy and don't help transform the world

Eckhart explains when the human and the being come together the being shines through our

humanness reflecting the light of consciousness he says the greatest miracle of

all is that the universe is conscious and we are a part of that.

He quotes Alan Watts, the famous writer and spiritual teacher who said, you are a function of what

the whole universe is doing in the same way that a wave is a function of what the whole ocean is doing.

So when you bring together the human and the being, instead of just being a human, it's not enough being a human, it's a terrible fate if you only know yourself as a human.

You have in other words zero self-transcendants.

You are trapped in this limited little self and even the big egos, they're little

to little selves. There are some people who seem to have achieved much in this world

to only through having a huge ego, that is possible.

But the achievements are really not achievements at all

because they make countless people unhappy.

So there's no point in building up some huge enterprise.

And while you're doing it, you're not only unhappy yourself,

you make everybody else unhappy too.

That does not transform this world.

So the human and the being coming together, then the being shines through the human.
