life and legacy today. Henry Kissinger was born in 1923 to a school teacher and a homemaker in Firth, Germany.

Twelve years later, his father lost his job because he and his family were Jewish.

Three years later, they fled Nazi Germany and settled in New York City.

However, 13 members of their extended family died in the Holocaust.
