It's Thursday, March 30th, 2023 from Peachfish Productions.

It's the Gisdy Mike Pesca, and it happens every spring.

But this spring, it's happening a little different than it used to happen.

You know that movie?

1949 Ray Meland, he's a scientist, he invents a substance, it repels wood, he becomes

a star pitcher, he finds glory and love, he cheats his way into the hearts of all of

us.

This year, even though it does happen every spring, the difference is baseball took a deep

look at itself and it had the time to do so, what with all the pitching changes and pitch

outs.

And baseball realized that the sport had become an ever ending series of guys adjusting

their batting gloves in between the occasional flight of a baseball or running along the

base paths.

So a pitch clock was instituted and the bases got bigger and fluffier.

That's nice and something called the shift was banned, although maybe we'll see guys running

into their shift positions.

That could be interesting and a little like an infantry maneuver.

So the question is, will all of this help the game?

Sure it will.

I very much look forward to two hour, 20 minute games, two hour, 30 minute games as opposed

to the three and a half hour variety we were served up until now.

It's funny.
