Summary

This episode takes inspiration from the touchingly beautiful book, "The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse", by Charlie Mackesy. While it's somewhat directed as a children's book, I'm often asking myself "is it REALLY for children or for adults?", as the life lessons are simple yet wonderfully profound. Listen in as we learn the importance of kindness, love, friendship and even cake. You'll be surprised what we find on this journey with a most unique group of friends.

I have a dear friend who is a professional runner.

0:06.0

Yes, I said that right, professional runner.

0:09.0

As in, he literally runs, not because he enjoys listening to podcasts so much and has nothing else to do while listening to them,

0:18.0

but he runs because it's his actual passion, and he even runs competitively.

Be in Boston, Chicago, New York, Jupiter. If there's a marathon somewhere, he's on the list.

Miles, I do hope that you're listening.

but it's less competitive and more creative for me personally.

Running is where I get a lot of ideas from. And it's also just a

0:57.3

place where I can kind of brainwash the day. All to say, Miles and I are two very different

1:04.8

runners, obviously. I've never even run a 5K. And full disclosure, I have no plans of doing so anytime soon,

1:14.3

or even later for that matter. No offense. But I can imagine if I were to go visit Miles,

1:21.0

who lives on the West Coast. And let's say he picks me up at the airport. As soon as I get in

1:26.7

the car, he goes, hey, I signed us up for a 5K.

1:30.9

I thought it would be fun.

1:32.8

Uh, what?

1:34.4

Yeah, come on, you'll be fine, you'll be fine.

1:38.4

And instead of heading to the Sheraton, we head to the starting line.

1:47.7

As night falls and I finally cross this finish line alone, dotting traffic, as the street opened hours ago after all of the runners had finished,

1:54.5

well, except one, Miles finally finds me. Granted, he would never leave me like this alone,

2:00.5

but again, this is just a fictional story, so just go along with me. Granted, he would never leave me like this alone, but again, this is just a fictional
