Welcome to the Blogging Millionaire podcast, where we teach you the latest traffic building and

0:06.6

income boosting growth hacks to take your blog to the next level. And now here's your host who

0:12.2

gets five million monthly visitors from over 100,000 first page Google rankings, Brandon Gaylee.

0:25.3

Back in 2013, before I launched my first blog, I spent months researching the blogs that were ranking in the top 20,000 highest traffic sites.

0:32.8

I broke each of them down by the type of content, number of words per post, backlinks, and many more

0:39.3

data points in an effort to find out what were the biggest difference makers that made these

0:44.7

blogs so successful. About a third of the way through my research, something very interesting

real need for content on those particular keyword phrases.

1:30.8

I launched my first blog in April of that same year. For the first year, I wrote 60% of my

1:37.6

post on low competition keywords and the other 40% on mid and high competition keywords. One year after writing my first blog post,

1:48.0

I did a deep dive into my Google Analytics to see which posts were driving the most traffic.

1:54.1

My analysis found that the 60% of the posts on low competition keywords made up over 95% of my organic Google traffic. I immediately shifted to

2:05.7

writing 90% of my new blog post on low competition keywords and my traffic exploded past one

2:12.2

million monthly sessions in the next six months. I replicated this process with two other blogs in different niches,

2:20.0

and I eventually expanded to six blogs in different niches. By year three, I was writing close to

2:26.5

100% of my blog posts on only low competition phrases, and collectively my blogs were getting
