Now on to our episode, February 5th is National Girls and Women in Sports Day,

a day to recognize the achievements of women and girl athletes all over the world.

And we wanted to be a part of that celebration with our new story today. The Kenosha Comet. Enjoy. Have you ever wanted

something so badly but couldn't have it? And the reasons you couldn't have it were totally unfair.

And that made you want it even more?

That's how we find the girl in today's story.

Her name is Alitha, and she lives on a dairy farm in Kenosha, Wisconsin, with her mom and two sisters.

Ordinarily, Alitha's dad and older brother Harvey would be on the farm too,

but it was the year 1943, and nothing was ordinary.

The Second World War was raging,

and Alitha's dad and brother joined the army

...
