heard from so many people who are dreading it because of political disagreements with their

family members. Look, I care about politics a lot. I think ideas shape how well our world

functions, and if the last few years have taught me anything, it's that bad political ideas and

actors can really affect my family, my children, and I will fight for them with all I have. But when I disagree with someone I love,

I give them the benefit of the doubt that they also want a better world and just have

different ideas on how to get there. The real thing is that falling out with your family or

friends over politics is childish. It reduces your relationships to vague concepts.

People will say, oh, but it shows values.

Maybe, maybe a little bit.
