Earlier in the show, we talked about how suddenly the California Democrats in the legislature are busy passing bills, most of them at least, 10 bills that are going to allegedly toughen retail theft crimes.

Now this came up in the springtime, remember, and they were using this as a ploy to try to get the DAs to take the repeal of Prop 47 off the ballot.

The A said no, the repeal is on the ballot. It's called Prop 36, and that's going to be there.

And then these characters in the legislature wanted to pass their anti-retel theft package

and put in poison pills that would void out the retail theft package if the repeal of 47 passed.

Well, they gave up on the poison pills.

And the whole issue went quiet for the last two months.

Now, the California legislature supposedly has 10 bills ready to go to Newsom's desk,

which, you know, if you read just the two-line description in the L.A. Times,

sounds like they're going to get really tough here.
