Let's go right to Brad Garrett from ABC News. They're crime and terrorism analyst.

I set all this up right before the news, Brad, the plea deal for three of the 9-11 terrorists,

including the mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

And I'm in shock and pissed that these guys are being given a break and they're not getting the death penalty.

I don't understand.

They sit there for 23 years and now there's a plea deal.

What happened?

So I think, John, quickly, we'll go back to 2001.

When 11 happens, we start catching bad guys. In 2003, we catch KSM and the two guys that

are part of this plea deal. The Bush administration decided, I guess, not long after 9-11,

as we picked up people, that they weren't going to bring them here.

They were going to take them, well, I think first of all, they took them to a black site where the CIA dealt with them.

And then they ultimately ended up at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, on a U.S. naval base there.

And I will tell you many of us, because I was in the FBI when this happened, scratched their head, like, well, why are you sending these guys there? They will not be able to prosecute

them effectively. And this is nothing against the military. But, you know, they're not trained.

They don't have the skill sets. They don't know, you material how you handle it because it becomes really complicated in these terrorism cases.

And, you know, they really get dealt a bad hand.
