going to get to is the Menendez brothers, you, they have been trying to pursue three paths

to freedom, either to get resentenced and let out early.

It's only a week to go for Gascon.

And the hearings were held today over that issue.

Also, whether they should get a new trial entirely because of new

child abuse evidence and have a third trial. Third thing, Gavin Newsom would offer clemency,

but Newsom closed that door last week, at least for now, saying he'd rather defer to Nathan Hockman.

Let's go to Royal Oaks, ABC News legal correspondent, to talk about the hearing today, which I think covered the first two possibilities, the new trial and then the resentencing idea.

I am here, John. Yeah, big hearing in Van Nuys, and that's because that's where the Menendez

hearing was decades ago. And the judge, it was kind of weird, John. It was supposed to start

at 10.30, but it didn't start for 45 minutes or an hour because the video hook up so that the brothers in prison

in San Diego could participate by video had glitches.

Apparently nobody bothered to test it, and so everybody just sat around while they solved

that problem.

How hard is it to get a Zoom connection?

I mean...

Amazing, especially on something, you know, the whole world's watching, right?

Anyway, at the end of the day, they participated, but not even by video.
