0:31.0	that is our first ever episode to actually fall on Halloween,

0:45.1	We mean, of course, the devil of Southern New Jersey.
0:49.6	Of the Pine Barons, mostly.
0:52.8	According to the New Jersey official tourist website, the pine barons,
0:57.9	quote, also known as the pine lands, is an enormous and all-encompassing tract of open space
1:04.3	that covers 1.1 million acres, or 22% of New Jersey's land area.
1:14.0	The site explains that the area, quote,
1:17.0	envelopes a number of interesting towns,
1:20.2	but it promises that you can also, quote,
1:25.7	experience the otherworldly beauty of the quiet pine-filled forests.
1:30.5	Apparently, the sandy soil of the barons is an important feature because it makes for waterways that wind between the forests. There are cedar swamps, too,
1:38.1	and rivers that run next to trails and into miles of state-protected land. It's no doubt a beautiful place.
1:47.0	And situated in the Pine Barrens is a place called Leeds Point,
1:52.0	also known as Leeds, or so the Internet promises us.
1:56.0	It's a small community in Galloway Township in Atlantic County. According to the Asbury Park Press, Leeds Point is named for the Leeds family,
2:06.6	who had quite a hand in the establishment of the area.
2:10.6	The first of the Leeds clan, Daniel Leeds, was famous for his almanacs.
2:16.6	And the Leeds family has a Benjamin Franklin backstory that we would love to get into here.
