through this week that Lawrence McEwen the owner of the island of muck has died at age of 79 now

muck is one of the small isles it lies off the west coast of Scotland and it is pretty small it's

around two miles in diameter it's been in the McEwen family's ownership since 1896, and Lawrence has farmed there since he was a young man.

The island's now been run by his offspring, but I'm told that Lawrence continued to care for his beloved cattle right up until the very end.

Back in 2014, the writer, Polly Pooleur and myself, went to Mac, which was an unforgettable trip,

and our time with Lawrence left a lasting impression.
