The islamic ruling on blasphemy Our respected Sheikh Yasir Qadhi addresses this highly sensitive and easily misunderstood topic. The Sheikh approaches this topic from four aspects:- The position of the books of islamic law i.e. the mazhahibs on blasphemy, the classical books of lawHow has this law been applied historically by the khulafa, the empires of Islam;These laws in the current climate; and In muslim minority spaces We must discuss the syariah and the siyasah in the times of the prophet s.a.w, in the times of the khulafa, in the times of the expansion of Islam and in the times of nation states. DO NOT jump in the bandwagon of being affronted when your prophet is ridiculed. Recall how the sahabah Salamat ibn Al-Akwa reacted when the Prophet s.a.w was insulted. Educate yourself if not extensively, then sufficiently to know how to behave in a manner that pleases Allah and His Rasul s.a.w.
