On Saturday, November 25th, 1925, a car containing three policemen and three prisoners

drove inside the gates of Mount Joy Jail,

a prison in Dublin City Centre.

Now once that car was inside, the policemen and their captives revealed themselves to be an IRA unit

and they set about freeing 19 Republicans who were incarcerated in the prison in one of the most audacious jail breaks in Irish history.
