honest, though. As a reporter, we're very cynical. And Donnie being out on jury duty for one day,

I don't know. I'm being a little cynical here. It might be an excuse. I don't know. I've got

my ears perked up. It could be. We'll see. If he comes back tomorrow, I don't know. I'll have to

find out what happened. But we haven't had a chance to talk to you since Thursday night football took

place. What were your overall impressions with what you saw from Dallas in a game that felt a lot

closer than I think any of us anticipated it might be. Yeah, honestly, I think it was a very encouraging start for the Cowboys. And I say that because, you know, speaking of being cynical, I was pretty cynical about how things were going in the preseason in terms of Brian Schadneimer. You know, he kind of said, hey, you know, we're going to have vanilla offense. Don't look too into it during the preseason. I mean, only doing seven iron and to keep the rest of the clubs in the bag. And the cynic in me was like, you know, is that just kind of an excuse that you can kind of use for a little bit? And honestly, you know, the vanilla preseason offense was then kind of contradicted by a Bastian Robbins type offense in the first week.

They used motion early and often.

They were pushing the ball downfield.

I thought the running game was creative with some of their looks, especially kind of getting Javonte Williams on the inside.

I think, you know, the two biggest X factors I've kind of been saying about this Dallas Cowboys team are whether Dak Prescott can get a reclaim is 20, 23 form, you know, back when him and Ceding Lamb were clicking, you add in George Pickens for that. And then my other X factor was Tyler Guyton. If Tyler Guyton could be serviceable this season and kind of take a step from where it was last year, I thought that that would do a lot of things for this Cowboys offense. And I thought you saw that from Tyler Guidance. So, yes, they lost. There are no moral victories. Brian Schottheimer was adamant about that. But I think there were a lot of encouraging signs about where they go from here. Hey there, Joe, long time no here. He's an old. Long time, no talk. Miles Sanders, 53 yards, although a pretty critical fumble.

To the eye test, the run game at least looked more encouraging than what we saw from a year ago.

But in the grand scheme of things, do we get a ton of answers yet about what this cowboy run game will be?

Yeah, I think the big answer we got is they're going to have success with Javante Williams contingent upon those runs being inside.

I think when you kind of look at the advanced analytics, a lot of success in terms of EPA and rushing guards over expected when it comes to Javonte Williams inside the tackles. Outside the tackle is a little bit of a different story. You know, I think if they're going to have success, it's going to be kind of, you know, an in-your-face kind of power run game with Javante Williams. It's funny, I did a story on him last week, and I was like standing next to him because we really hadn't seen much of Javante Williams during the preseason. I mean, we didn't see him at all. And I was just looking, I was like, man,

this guy is 5-9, 220, like this is a bowling ball type running back. And I think clearly we saw

on week one, that is going to be their best usage for him. I do wonder when kind of that

outside run game X Factor might emerge. You know, Jaden Blue is someone that we kind of that outside run game X factor might emerge.
