So good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.

Shall we begin?

I'm particularly delighted to introduce our speaker today, Dr. Angela Ward, who is currently

a referent there in the chambers of Advocate General Tangiva, the Court of Justice of the European Union.

In reality, I should say that I am welcoming

Angela back because Angela has long-standing ties with his faculty and with the university. She

was a lecturer here and a fellow modeling college for four years, and during that time,

she held the position of Deputy director of the Centre for European

Legal Studies. In this capacity she organized numerous events and conferences that really

raised greatly the profile of the centre and together with Professor Alan Dashwood. She was one of the

founding editors of the Cambridge Yearbook of European Legal

Studies. Angela has a distinguished career in practice and in academia. After she left Cambridge,

she became a reader at the University of Essex. She worked in practice and then she moved to the

court where she has been working since 2011.

She is the author of numerous publications which include a monograph on EU law remedies

and a string of articles in top academic journals.

While at the court she has continued to write in the field of EU law

and she is one of the editors of a hugely successful book

on the EU Charter on Fundamental Human Rights.

So I could really go on for much longer, to talk about Angela's many achievements,

but I know that you are all looking forward to listening to her presentation,

and today she's going to deal with the impact of the EU Charter on Equality
