Tonight I'm going to read a history book that references these events that took place in France

in the city of Ludon, L-O-U-D-U-N.

Its principal figure's name was Urban Grandier, or Grandier, G-R-A-N-D-I-E-R.

And Aldous Huxley wrote about the story in his book, The Devils of Ludone.

And that was published in 1952.

I can't read from that.

It's still under copyright.

And also, the famous author, Alexander Dumas, or Dumas, wrote about urban grander as well.

He was also the author of The Three Musketeers, so a very well-known French literary figure wrote about this book.

But I'm going to read from a book that I found online.

The title of the book is The History of the Devils of Ludon,

The Alleged Possession of the Ursuline Nuns and the Trial and Execution of Urban Grandeur,

told by an eyewitness, translated from the original French,

by Edmund Goldsmith, published privately in Edinburgh, 1887.

And it's in three chapters, so I will read the introduction and the three chapters.

So this is the introduction.

Introduction, the following extraordinary account of the cause-selebe of Urban Grandeur,

the Curie of Ludon, accused of magic and having caused the nuns of the convent of St. Ursula to be possessed of devils,

is written by an eyewitness, and not only an eyewitness but an actor in the scenes he describes.

It is printed at Poitier-J-Thoreau, Imprimurus O'Roy, University of 1634. I believe two copies are only known,
