Hello creatives. I'm Joanna Penn. And this is episode number 550 of the podcast. And it is

Friday the 7th of May 2021 as I record this.

In today's show, I'm talking to Gail Carriger about the heroine's journey with a focus on

the craft of writing today. And remember, just as the hero's journey is applicable to female

characters, the heroine's journey applies to

male characters, or however you choose to apply gender in your writing or whatever gender

you feel you are yourself. So I really wanted to make that clear up front. This is relevant

for all kinds of stories and it's more about the story structure, the relationships and the ending.

And once you know more about what the heroine's journey looks like, I know you will be able to

spot it, that kind of story arc in books and films you enjoy and use it in your own work.

In publishing news this week, an email from KDP Print just arrived about paperback

printing launching in Australia on the 19th of May 2021 and that you might need to adjust your
