Summary

We tell the story of Abbé Fouré, the hermit-priest of Rotheneuf, France. After a stroke forced him into retirement, Abbé Fouré moved to a hermitage on the Brittany coast. Over the next 14 years, he carved more than 300 sculptures into the rocks on the cliffs of Rotheneuf. You

0:30.0

Welcome to Strange Familiars. How are you doing tonight, Allison?

0:56.3

I'm doing okay. I'm very pleased. The temperature only had a tiny blip up into the 90s.

1:02.6

And now we're back to the perfect weather of late May, which is my favorite time of year.

1:07.5

Yeah, that heat wave put me in a foul mood over the weekend. It's like

1:13.9

you could actually tell the minute it got to whatever arbitrary number it is that makes you an

1:18.5

angry person. And you're not normally an angry person, but you became an angry person at whatever

1:23.0

heat level that was. We know like Chad and I pretty much have a standing date on Saturday nights.

1:29.1

We go looking for spooky stuff to the sock hop and then out for shakes and malts and stuff.

1:34.4

Whatever you do. He texted me Saturday during the day. And he's like, what are you doing tonight?

1:39.8

And I was sorry. Being grumpy. Yeah, sorry, Chad. I ate very grumpy. He texted back nothing.

1:44.9

I'm staying in. I hate this weather. I'm depressed. So Chad came over anyway and we had a we sat

1:50.3

outside and had a nice discussion anyway. So that was very nice. But now it's lovely,

1:55.0

perfect May weather. So much nicer now. So much nicer now. Do you have a favorite time of the year?

2:00.4

This is my absolute favorite time of the year. Spring and fall. Now it used to be spring and fall.

2:06.5

Now it's winter, honestly. Really? Maybe because a global warming winter is more like fall used to be.

2:12.0

I love winter. I love it. I know you don't like it. It's like kind of one of our things where we

2:17.6

part ways in it in a major. It's not that I like summer. It's that I like sun. And not that I like

2:22.4

to sit outside with like foil in front of my face. But I do need it for my own sanity sake.

2:28.8

Yeah. And it's well, it's not that I like snow. It's that I dislike heat.

2:32.4

Yeah. So heat is really, really bad for MS. Where is it just perfectly like 70 degrees all

2:38.4

the time? But sunny everywhere. Yeah, I don't know. And there aren't hurricanes,
