0:31.0 | Okay, this will be a short episode just a quick reminder that I want to offer all of us and it's something that's been showing up more and more in my own practice and my own life |
0:46.0 | Which is that well, let's also let's backtrack and first start by saying a lot of times in meditation space |
0:53.0 | We're talking about stress and tension and relieving stress and tension and all categories |
1:01.0 | Suffering |
1:04.0 | And this is important to do that to normalize it and hold space for it |
1:11.0 | And to even see the wisdom that's arising in something like stress or different forms of suffering |
1:17.0 | And it's really important to also let yourself experience positive emotion when it's there |
1:25.0 | And that's the key reminder that I want to offer to you here |
1:30.0 | That our brains are not very good at making space for positive experiences |
1:38.0 | It's less making space for them and more about like really giving ourselves permission to feel it and to linger with it and to let it saturate you |
1:47.0 | And we're just programmed evolutionarily to focus more on what is bad in our experience because it can indicate death |
1:56.0 | And it doesn't mean we also we haven't also evolved to have positive emotions |
2:00.0 | There's a reason that they're there but the negative emotions and negative experiences take up a little bit more space in our minds |
2:06.0 | Because well if you don't get the carrot one day, you can get it maybe tomorrow |
2:12.0 | But if you get hit by the stick one day, well you're not going to wake up tomorrow to try and get the carrot |
2:18.0 | So we really have the sensitivity to negative experiences |
2:22.0 | And on our healing journey it does mean that when there are moments of feeling good |
2:28.0 | We can tend to gloss over them without even realizing it |
2:31.0 | And so today one invitation I offer to you is when you feel something good even if it's subtle |
