Stories of cryptic creatures pushing young people off cliffs.

Christmas monsters keeping children in line.

Ghostly women lingering around cemeteries.

The list goes on and on.

Being one of the oldest settled parts of the United States,

it's not hard to understand why this area is filled with ghost stories and legends

that many people believe in experience to this day.

Jeff Belanger has been documenting these legends and

stories for many years and joins us to talk about some of the most compelling New England

legends he's ever uncovered. So I remember being a kid about 10 years old in living in Newtown

Connecticut and Sandy Hook specifically. And just two towns away, there was

this story that everyone used to talk about, about the white lady of Easton. And she's this spectral

white figure that had been seen up and down the road right next to Union Cemetery in Easton,

which is at this intersection of a couple of major back roads, you know, like if you

were, you know, cutting through to fair down to the coast or whatever. And it's one of those

things where you would happen by it quite a bit because these roads are, you know, pretty significantly

traveled. And when you go by, you can't help but look. You can't help but look into

the cemetery and say, well, I wonder if tonight's the night that I'll actually see her. So I'm a little

kid. I'm 10, 11 years old, and I'm looking out the back window all the way until the cemetery is

completely out of sight, just waiting to catch a glimpse of this thing. And that story was so reinforced by Ed and Lorraine Warren,

who lived one town away in Monroe. So I lived in the, you know, the town next to them and two towns
