We start today with a question. Can soda be medicinal? I know, I know, but hear me out. Not talking about your typical Coke or Seven-Up instead, talking about pop that's good for your gut. Well, that's the claim anyway. This relatively new sector is called, wait for it, functional soda. While that may have once sounded like an oxymoron, it's a real

thing now and it's growing. The functional soda market has grown 465% year over year, according to

data from a research company called Spins. And one brand hopes something else will be growing, too,

the healthy bacteria in your digestive tract.

Texas-based brand Poppy calls itself a prebiotic soda.

It's infused with apple cider vinegar, which can aid digestion, and natural sweeteners

that keep the sugar content low, only about five grams a can.
