Welcome back to the Adam Schepfter podcast as we head straight out of the combine in Indianapolis

and prepare to head straight into free agency surrounded by the grief of the loss of our great friend,

our colleague, Chris Mortensen.

Now, we're going to have an awful lot of time to talk about Chris Mortensen,

how special he was, how much he meant us on this particular podcast,

but Mort would not be happy if we focused exclusively on him.

It's not the way he was wired.

All these tributes that have run on ESPN since his passing on Sunday,

he wouldn't have liked them.

He would have hated him.

And we are going to try to honor him by moving in a little bit of a different direction,

but of course, paying the proper respect to the man that helped change the trajectory of my career and my life,

and a man I loved very much and always will.

To help remember, Chris Mortensen, we will be joined by another prolific and respected decades-long NFL writer, Peter King,

who announced his retirement last week on Monday, and within the same week, we lose another

prolific, respected, all-time NFL writer and Chris Mornson.

Now, we were going to have Peter King on this podcast next week before Free Agency.

But when Mort lost his life and when we wanted to look back on it, I figured the best thing to do would be to merge two men for which I have great admiration for,

two men of which I love, and we would have Peter King on to talk about not only his career and what's next for him,

but to look back at the tremendous career of Chris Mortensen.

And so we will be joined by Peter King, who has spent almost four decades
