Eisenhower wasn't at the dentist. He was at Edwards Air Force Base for the most classified meeting

in American history.

The president had vanished for an entire evening. The Associated Press panicked and reported his death before retracting it a few minutes later.

The White House said he'd chipped a tooth and needed emergency dental work.

But Eisenhower wasn't at the dentist.

He was at Edwards Air Force Base for a secret meeting.
