The economics of JD Vance.

Former President Donald Trump is set to speak tonight at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, his first speech since the assassination attempt Saturday.

Last night though it was his running mate, J.D. Vance's turn, where he gave us some additional insight into his economic thinking.

So people have called Vance a populist conservative.

What does that actually mean?

Well, some of his economic views are very different from those of the traditional Republican

establishment.

Vance supports higher tariffs on imports, even though that can stoke inflation and make imported

products more expensive for consumers,

he's also in favor of lowering the value of the dollar to protect U.S. manufacturing.

He had a very populous message last night at the convention.

We're done, ladies and gentlemen, catering to Wall Street.

We'll commit to the working man.

We're done importing foreign labor.

We're going to fight for American citizens and their good jobs and their

good wages.

And he mentioned Wall Street there.
