Americans care about most reporting today from the Republican National Convention in St. Paul.

George Bush and Dick Cheney won't be coming to St. Paul tonight is scheduled. Because of Hurricane Gustav, they've made other plans.

John McCain has suspended political hoop law, at least for today, and the convention will conduct the minimum of official business.

On to the point, we'll get the latest from Louisiana and try to assess what it will mean

for the legacy of President Bush and McCain's political future.

We'll hear Republicans debate the choice of Sarah Palin and a conservative platform that fails to mention McCain.

On reporter's notebook later on, protesters on the streets of St. Paul.
