Ephesians Chapter 4.

Ephesians is the most profoundly self-outlining book in all of Scripture.

It's divided into two parts.

First three chapters are all about our position in Christ.

The last three chapters are all about what we should do in light of our position in Christ. Old

J. Vernon McGee said the first three are about position and the second three are about possession.

Kenneth Waste, the professor of Greek at Moody Bible Institute, used to say the first three

chapters are about doctrine, and the second three chapters are about

exhortation. That's somewhat true, but you find a lot of doctrine in the second three

chapters as well. In fact, as we'll discover today, when we go into Ephesians 4, we're going to

run into some things that are highly controversial and not at all agreed upon in Christianity.

But we begin the dividing point.

Ephesians chapter 4, I therefore the prisoner of the Lord beseech you that you walk worthy

of the vocation wherewith ye are called.

With all lowliness and meekness, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love,

endeavoring to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace.

There is one body, one spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling, one Lord,

one faith, one baptism, one God, and Father of all who is above all through all, and in you
